Out of many crazy traveling experiences, Molly was extremely excited when she talked about the time she spent on Muztagh in Pamir.
“The upper level of Muztagh sits 4,500 meters above sea level, I don’t really suffer the effects of altitude, just almost fell asleep sometimes due to the burning sun… the glacier water is pretty clear and freezing cold.” Molly said in her Weibo. Having said that, Molly encountered the problem of mud-rock flow resulted from the melting of glacier.
“What I strongly suggest is, don’t be afraid of rushing water, and don’t be afraid of the unsteady rock beneath your feet. Do wear proper climbing boots and be well aware of the freezing glacier water! I was chilled to the bone.” Molly said that because she wore sneakers to climb Muztagh so that she had to take off her shoes before she waded across the freezing, unforgettable glacier river.
As for the experience of camping in dessert, it’s just as tough as when Molly’s in Muztagh. A movable wooden board, which can be held up and supported horizontally from the lower part to back, is Molly’s simply constructed bed. No sleeping pads for Molly and her friends whom she travelled with. They spent nearly 2 hours riding camels to get to the destination. At first they considered it as a regular and fun camping as always, however they neglected the large temperature difference day and night. It’s hotter than summer during daytime, whereas the night temperature can as low as 0℃.
“There’s a oil lamp while we are eating. It’s all darkness when you woke up at night and wanted to pee outside, but the camels would watch for you.” Molly laughed out loud, “And every time you look up at the sky, the magnificent Milky Way, and every single star, you will realize that everything is worthwhile.”
