The wish to travel seems to me characteristically human: the desire to move, to satisfy your curiosity or ease your fears, to change the circumstances of your life, to be a stranger, to make a friend, to experience an exotic landscape, to risk the unknown..”

Paul Theroux, The Tao of Travel: Enlightenments from Lives on the Road

Above is my motto for today.

Many people quit when they are planning the trip, while Molly only needs a one-way flight ticket to start off. “There are directions to everywhere.” Molly faithfully said.

India is the place that Molly will never forget. She’s mostly impressed by how Indian people perceive the world in a primitive state such like grabbing food with hand and walking barefoot. Molly was feeling completely comfortable about that, yet feeling the food with tactual sensation; breathe each wisp of breathing sent out from the land with feet, those are something beyond expression.

“It’s not that hard to ‘do in Rome as Rome does’, you only need to open your heart, and stop adhering strictly to your little perspectives on world.” Molly said on her Weibo.

Molly wants everyone especially whom in China to shed his or her blinkers and start to understand India in depth. Mark Twain wrote that ‘Benares is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend, and looks twice as old as all of them put together’.

“This is a country wrapped comfortably in history and charming culture.” Said Molly.

Out of many crazy traveling experiences, Molly was extremely excited when she talked about the time she spent on Muztagh in Pamir.

“The upper level of Muztagh sits 4,500 meters above sea level, I don’t really suffer the effects of altitude, just almost fell asleep sometimes due to the burning sun… the glacier water is pretty clear and freezing cold.” Molly said in her Weibo. Having said that, Molly encountered the problem of mud-rock flow resulted from the melting of glacier.

“What I strongly suggest is, don’t be afraid of rushing water, and don’t be afraid of the unsteady rock beneath your feet. Do wear proper climbing boots and be well aware of the freezing glacier water! I was chilled to the bone.” Molly said that because she wore sneakers to climb Muztagh so that she had to take off her shoes before she waded across the freezing, unforgettable glacier river.

As for the experience of camping in dessert, it’s just as tough as when Molly’s in Muztagh. A movable wooden board, which can be held up and supported horizontally from the lower part to back, is Molly’s simply constructed bed. No sleeping pads for Molly and her friends whom she travelled with. They spent nearly 2 hours riding camels to get to the destination. At first they considered it as a regular and fun camping as always, however they neglected the large temperature difference day and night. It’s hotter than summer during daytime, whereas the night temperature can as low as 0℃.

“There’s a oil lamp while we are eating. It’s all darkness when you woke up at night and wanted to pee outside, but the camels would watch for you.” Molly laughed out loud, “And every time you look up at the sky, the magnificent Milky Way, and every single star, you will realize that everything is worthwhile.”

For Molly, a story begins without reasons, and also has nothing to do with how it ends. All she cares is how she lives and what she feels right now.

Molly originally comes from Hong Kong and now she lives in Shanghai. Regarding to her friends words, she’s an untidy boy inside an adorable lady who’s never afraid of mess, dirty, even death. Why do they so? Just listen to some of her craziest travelling stories:

She flied to Kashgar just several days after the riot in Kashgar had been reported. Despite anyone’s persuasion, she carried on  regardless; She climbed a snow mountain with barefoot; She had have camped in a desert in India.

“Although these sound crazy to people, I don’t think I have experienced a real crazy adventure.” Said Molly in a interview with Reading Time Journal.
